I am sure by now that no one truly believe they can have a complete, effective marketing program without some kind of online presence. Having said that, everyone who then makes the decision to go online will be faced with yet another challenge – web page design.
Short of paying me lots of money to do it for you, there are many other options that will be sure to meet your needs. Many companies today provide specialised services catered to the small business/start-up need for web page design. I found WebSitePros to be one of the better ones out there. To be sure, you can find cheaper alternatives. But again, you need to weigh in the cost vs quality comparison. It is up to you, but for me, I would rather pay professionals to do my site, then to save $50 and have the high school kid next door ruin my business for me.
If you take away the hassle of creating you own web page, online marketing is no different from any other form of marketing. You need to define clearly your objectives, talk to your target audience, and demonstrate your unique selling propositions. Those you will already have for your classified ads, posters, banners, direct mailing and so on. The last piece that goes online? Leave it to the expert to do the web page design.
